Delivering the next generation of UK healthcare

CHt has played a significant role in delivering the next generation of the UK’s healthcare estate from new build to major refurbishment projects.

Our healthcare portfolio has been delivered across the UK under a variety of procurement routes.

Including private finance initiatives (PFI); non-profit distributing (NPD) programmes; and healthcare frameworks.

Our track record in healthcare includes the full breadth of healthcare provision, including major acute PFI hospitals, critical care centres, community health parks, mental health facilities, cancer care units, major infrastructure replacements.

Paediatrics and maternity wards, research and blood processing facilities, haematology areas, intensive care units, accident and emergency departments, ward refurbishments.

To pathology laboratories, linear accelerator installations, and surgical and operating theatres.

We fully appreciate that hospitals operate under extreme scrutiny

As such, our designs and solutions ensure that minimising and mitigating service interruption remains central. We monitor and continually improve on-site practices, working with the supply chain to propose innovative materials with lower environmental impacts. We achieve this by maximising the use of recycled materials, setting stringent on-site waste reduction and recycling targets, seeking responsibly sourced materials with lower embodied impacts, and maximising opportunities for long-term efficiency.

Providing key benefits to the healthcare sector

We believe lean and sustainable MEP delivery construction starts at the design stage. Waste should be designed out and the simplest way to do this is to only construct what is needed. Our in-house Group Technical function, led by experts from key engineering disciplines, focuses on identification of efficiencies across cost, programme, buildability and sustainability, leading to refinement and re-specification that have significantly reduced the programme of projects within the healthcare sector.
