As a key part of the Laing O’Rourke construction team our role is to design, supply, install and commission a fully integrated building services installation.

Our role

As a key part of the Laing O’Rourke construction team our role is to design, supply, install and commission a fully integrated building services installation.

Utilising our research and development expertise that includes our extensive digital engineering capability, we will deliver our client’s new office headquarters in Glasgow in the safest and most efficient way possible.

The challenge

To deliver a fully integrated Building Services Installation within the 13 storey office development and 2 storey basement with an area of 34,700m² in 35 weeks. With the site being located in the heart of the city centre there will be major logistical challenges particularly with ingress and egress onto site.

Our approach

Lead by our Engineering Excellence Group we will design and deliver fully integrated  building services solutions by maximising all of our current DfMA capabilities and exploring and delivering new DfMA technologies that can be utilised to drive our innovation agenda.

The engineering behind our delivery

CHt maximised the integration of services into structural elements with main ventilation distribution being installed within structural columns around the building.

Floor by Floor construction/installation/integration incorporated  Multi Service Modules that included VRV system landed onto floor plate, floor plate above installed and then multi service modules installed at high level to allow floor screeding. The mechanical and electrical services within the horizontal distribution modules are then connected to the main riser modules.

  • Toilet cores manufactured off-site, pre tested and ready for final connection.
  • Riser cores manufactured off-site.
  • Rooftop plant room manufactured off-site.
  • Vertical and Horizontal Electrical Busbar distribution.
